May 6th Primal Tongue · 2010-04-25
Hey all, it’s almost the end of the month and that means it;‘s almost time for another Primal Tongue, the seacoasts first prose reading night!
PT, as always, falls on the first Thursday of the month. So come on over on the 6th of May and see what’s up.
This month we have Seacoast Storyteller, Debra Ballou offering up tried and true tales along with some works in progress.
Debra Ballou tells stories from cultural history and natural history in classrooms, nature centers, libraries, museums, and other venues. With over 20 years experience in environmental education, Debra conducts workshops using story in many subject areas including marine ecology and botany education while always looking for the story in nature and nature in story. She served for three years on the Board of LANES (League for the Advancement of New England Storytelling) and one year as their President.
At 9, after Debra, join us for our prose open mic. Sidle up and tell one of your own tales.
Hope to see you there!

Charity Event! or, You Oughta Be In Pictures! · 2010-02-19
If you want to be in a photo shoot of a day in the life of Adelle's Coffeehouse, be at 3 Hale St in Dover at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, March 2nd.
Jeremy Heflin will be at the helm of a 2 hour photoshoot that will result in some advertisement fodder for us and also benefit the H(EAT) Campaign. We want to capture the magic that we feel often at Adelle's. So please come and help us out. We will have a little jar out for you to donate a little to H(EAT) too if you'd like.
A Day of Fundraising: Relief for Haiti · 2010-01-20
Last Saturday, we put out a call on Facebook and Twitter and through good ol' fashioned word of mouth: All our profits for the day would be donated to the Red Cross for relief efforts in Haiti.
Those who stopped by Saturday may have seen this on our door.
We want to thank each and every one of you who stopped by, who spread the word, and who donated through a purchase or our donation tip jar. Through your efforts we were able to raise $600 in a single day. Some of you may feel like you couldn't possibly donate enough to make a difference in the face of such an immense tragedy should know this: your participation on Saturday helped make this $600 happen, and even though what you gave may seem like nothing by itself, together all of your dollars have pooled together to make an admirable donation! So seriously, thank you.
As the saying goes, every little bit counts and now all those little bits combined will go out to provide food, medicine and ground support through the Red Cross to the thousands of Haitian people who need it so much right now. We encourage all of you to keep finding ways to participate in this civilian outreach to our island neighbors to the south.
And remember, if you want to donate to the relief efforts, make SURE you do so through the right sources. Even in the face of desperation there are people who would take your money and run. Visit www.redcross.org to make your donations there, and be sure to research other charities which you may wish to support. The Red Cross also has an official Twitter account: http://twitter.com/redcross which you can use to track updates on rescue efforts and find other reputable donation and relief efforts to participate in also.
Thank you for all your help, Dover! We love you!
January 7th Primal Tongue · 2010-01-04
Well the holidays are over. We are rosy with the excesses of the season and ready to greet a new year with open eyes. We are ready for more. But are you ready for another installment of Primal Tongue?
Oh, I think you are.
This month, January, the dead of winter - bleak and unforgiving - we have a special night to warm your spirit and give your mind something to mull through the long, dark days till spring: A night of mysticism.
Readers Peter O'Lalor and Michael Hartney (and possibly a surprise guest or two) will offer their ruminations to the gathered crowd for the edification of all.
So come by Adelle's Coffeehouse this Thursday January 7th, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM and begin the New Year thoughtfully.
